Our new meeting time is 3:30pm., Wednesday afternoons in the Little shul.
We warm up together, we do brief self-accupressure for a few minutes, and we meditate for 3-5 minutes. Then we do our practice of 64 movements.

We work together in community towards health and youth and well being, including faster healing from stress and illness, and we always seem to feel better after our 90-minute class. We adapt our movements for those, who have need.

Don't be shy! Qi Gung helps all of us to
improve our health.

Lunch and Learn at Temple Beth Sholom will resume on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 12:30 PM. Note that we are beginning a half an hour later than previously, in order to give people time to come from East Bay Jewish Forum at Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland.

On Nov. 6th we will begin with a discussion of the recent elections.
On Nov. 13th and the 20th we will continue our discussion of current events, both in Israel and the United States.
Nov. 27th is Thanksgiving and there will be no session.

In December we will begin a new Teaching Company course on Mysticism in World Religions. I am looking forward to this new field.

Rabbi’s Novel Approach.

We have moved our
weekly minyan to Thursday
evenings at 6:00pm. In the late
fall, winter and early spring, there
will be a short Ma’ariv (evening)
service. In the late spring,
summer and early fall, we are conducting an even
shorter Mincha (afternoon) service. Please help
us make up the minyan on Thursdays.
Following the service is an evening
seminar, aimed at providing an opportunity for
working adults. Future focus can be on any
subject that you would like.
Rabbi Manhoff is writing a novel about
the people of Israel in the first century of the
Common Era, specifically around 32 or 33 CE.
His main characters are trying to find Yeshua of
Nazareth (a.k.a. Jesus of Nazareth). Through all
of their adventures and misadventures, these
characters, and many others, find out how similar
the stories of the Christian origins (found in the
New Testament) are to our own traditions of the
same time. Our rabbi has allowed us to peek into
his unfinished manuscript, and at the same time
is explaining the Jewish teachings that have
found their way into Christian Holy Scripture.
We call our weekly meetings with Rabbi
Manhoff: “the Rabbi’s Novel Approach.” We
laugh; we learn and never can seem to get
enough. We only hope that the Rabbi finishes
writing the novel before we finish reading it. And
now we are moving the day to Thursday
evenings, to make it easier for more people to
attend.
We are especially fortunate that the Rabbi
helps us lead a learners’ minyan for a half an
hour before we sit down to discuss his novel.
So please come and join us on
Thursday evenings, 6:00-6:30pm for the
minyan, and 6:30-8:00pm for the
Rabbi’s Novel Approach.
